February Program: Brenda Jeschke will present a lecture on “Why I Made This Quilt”. Brenda Jeschke has been quilting since 1982. Although Brenda pieces her quilts by machine, her quilts are hand appliquéd and hand quilted. She has been teaching quilting since 1991 and judging since 1997. Brenda has had her quilts in many exhibits and competitions and her binding technique was featured in the Quilter’s Newsletter Magazine. Her quilt, Wedgewood Blue, was featured in the book “Mastering the Art of McTavishing” by Karen McTavish. This quilt was the only hand quilted “McTavishing” quilt in a book of machine quilted quilts. Brenda has won numerous awards on the local, regional and national level including the Dallas Quilt Celebration, the NQA Quilt Show and The Appliqué Society quilt show.

March Program: Mary K. Beard will present a program on Crazy and Memory Quilts. She will also conduct a workshop after the meeting on learning how to use small pieces of laces, trims, buttons, and old jewelry to make your own memory quilt.

April Program: Lola Jenkins – Thread Painted Quilts. Workshop: An introductory class on learning thread painting techniques.

CVQG sponsors three retreats each year to The Compass Centre in Mount Calm, TX just east of Waco.

CVQG celebrated 20 retreats in May at the Compass Centre in Mount Calm. Retreaters showed their appreciation to Jackie for chairing these retreats by presenting her with blocks for a friendship quilt, "Thanks for Twenty." The first CVQG retreat was in February 2003 at The Red Barn Retreat Center in Coldspring, TX.
