 About The Guild Minimize

The Colorado Valley Quilt Guild meets the fourth Tuesday of each month with meetings at 10 a.m. in odd months and 7 p.m. in even months at First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 1215 Von Minden Road in La Grange, Texas.

The guild is ten years old and currently has approximately 100 members who come from all over the Colorado Valley area, including Fayette, Lee, Lavaca, Bastrop and Colorado counties. Annual dues are $15 and $10 for 65 and over. Send dues to CVQG, P.O. Box 165, La Grange, Texas 78945 or email us at cvquiltguild@yahoo.com for more information.

The guild hosts a quilt show every February; in 2009 the dates are Feb. 27 and 28. Called "The Best Little Quilt Show in Texas" this is one of Texas' premier quilt shows! Other activities include making lap robes for area senior citizens homes and children's advocacy groups, and two raffle quilts - one that benefits the club and one that benefits St. Mark's Medical Center Auxiliary.  CVQG participates in the Quilts of Valor program by making quilts that are given to wounded servicemen and women as they return from deployment.

We have three retreats a year and we sponsor a charter bus to the International Quilt Festival in Houston each year.

 October Meeting Recap Minimize

"Are You Havin' Any Fun?" asked Nancy Atkinson, of Bastrop, TX, as she delivered a running commentary on the quilts and quilt tops she has pieced, quilted, and yo-yoed over the past 25+ years at the October 28 meeting of the Colorado Valley Quilt Guild.

Nancy showed off her first quilt  (at bottom of column) and proceeded to delight the group with excerpts and anecdotes as she displayed more quilts from her collection.  Nancy's theory is "do what you enjoy doing."

One of the things Nancy enjoys is making yo-yos.  She brought several of her yo-yo quilts, including this one in the above photo.
